My Story
My name is Bruce Orr and I am an artist! It’s what I have always loved and what I have always done. When I was young I drew cartoons about bugs and snakes, did puppet shows behind the couch and made boats out of scraps of wood. I never stopped drawing and creating. My life in art had me self publishing zines and comics, doing puppet shows for social justice organizations and illustrating for anarchist book publishers. I started The Mudeye Puppet company in Portland, Oregon, making puppets out of trash and traveling the city promoting creative reuse. I have painted murals with kids in Lynn, Massachusetts, everywhere from local non profits to genetic science labs as Senior Art Therapist at Raw Art Works. I have done countless classes, workshops and residencies, in schools, libraries and non-profits. I paint murals, do illustrations and am a seasoned puppeteer.
This website is my story. It’s my life in art. Reach out if you are interested in making something artistic happen with me.

Murals
In the 90’s I started painting murals with the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. As a member of Metro Murals in Portland, Oregon, I worked with local arts activists in a legal battle against Clear Channel, who until then, made murals illegal for a loophole in their sign code. When we won, I painted the first public mural in years for SCRAP (School Community Reuse Action Project) still visible on North WIlliams street. Today I run a teen public art group at RAW and regularly paint murals on the North Shore, most notably the Carlton School mural in Salem. Contact me if you need a mural.
